About the city

Difficult to mention Liverpool without thinking about the Beatles. This band is still a matter of pride for the Liverpudlians, but that should not overshadow other attractions in this city on the west coast of England. Its undeniable cultural dynamism today materializes in the rehabilitation and reuse of its industrial heritage, the conversion of the Albert Dock as a cultural and leisure centre, the opening of the Tate Gallery or the creation of the Garden Festival have made Liverpool one of the most vibrant cities in the country. Without a doubt, Albert Dock is the most important sight of Liverpool. A succession of solid brick warehouses surround a pond. A World Heritage site, the Albert Dock houses the award-winning Tate Liverpool, the Merseyside Maritime Museum and the stunning International Slavery Museum. With so much to see and do, rest weary feet in one of the many bars, cafes and restaurants situated around the dock. And then there's the Beatles. There are many places around the city that cherish this legendary band, museums, bars, shops, hotels and cafeterias themed around the band’s history attract many musical pilgrims. All this Beatles sites share the spotlight with another symbol of the city: The Metropolitan Cathedral, the biggest cathedral in the UK, also attracts many tourists due to its unusual architecture. Of course, it's impossible to talk about Liverpool without mentioning football. Here, on Anfield stadium, home of Liverpool F.C, visitors will learn all there is to learn about this great club. Around the stadium there are a few pubs for pre-match drinking and meet first-hand the team’s passionate fan base. Now, that is the real Liverpool experience.

Puffin Island

day 2 - 11:00 h

This tour allows you to take in the heritage and wildlife. Leaving Beaumaris, Menai Bridge or Conwy Marina, we head out towards the island. There will be stops on the way to take in places of interest. We navigate through the sound, stopping at the Penmon Point lighthouse, then on around the island, stopping at the seal colony and seal cave. With Benllech and Moelfre in the distance we take a short costal tour then head back.

You will see a wide variety of bird life although we can't guarantee what you will see on your trip. The birds have their own migration patterns and breeding on the island is only at certain times of the year.

There are something in the region of 14 different species of bird that visit Puffin Island during the season. Winter visitors include Eider Duck and Canada Geese in small numbers both of which stayed until the end of May in 2015.

The majority of breeding birds start arriving at the beginning of March and stay until the end of August. These include Puffin, Guillemot, Razor Bills and Kittiwake. The vast majority of which prefer the cliffs on the North side of the island which offer better protection from predators such as Greater and Lesser black back Gulls. Small numbers of Shag and Fulmar have also been spotted during the breeding season.

The island is home to one of the largest Cormorant colonies in the UK. To and from the island you may also see Terns, herring gull and there are a few pairs of the rare Black Guillemot who are not usually found this far South.

There is also a colony of seals who usually inhabit the island. During low tide in the summer months, they can often be seen resting on the rocks or fishing.

After having given you the time to see some of the sea/wild life, the boat will once again pick up speed and return you to your departure point.

You are strongly advised to dress appropiately and wear suitable footwear for your trip as it is often cooler out at sea and powerboat trips can, by nature, be wet. We will do our best to get you as close as possible to the wildlife without disturbing nesting birds, but you may want to bring a pair of binoculars with you for that close-up view and you are welcome to bring a camera but you do so at your own risk. There is limited space on board the boat in which you can store small bags(e.g handbags) but please leave larger items in your car.
